Privacy Policy

Effective
Last updated

Saloon Siege has no analytics, no telemetry and no accounts. The game's code never transmits anything about you, and this website sets no cookies and runs no tracking. The only personal information we ever hold is an email you choose to send us.

The short version

We do not track you, profile you, or sell anything about you — through the game or through this website. There is no account to create and nothing to opt out of.

The rest of this page is specific about the one file the game saves to your own computer, the one situation in which we hold personal information (you emailing us), and the things other companies — chiefly Valve, who run Steam — collect independently of us.

Who we are

Saloon Siege is made by TODO_SET_LEGAL_ENTITY, who is responsible for this website and this policy. You can reach us at privacy@saloon-siege.com.

What the game collects

Nothing. Saloon Siege contains no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party tracking software of any kind. It does not ask you to create an account, and it does not have one to create.

The game's code contains nothing that transmits information anywhere — no network requests, no connections, no uploads. This is not a setting that has been switched off; there is no such code in the game to switch off.

The one file the game saves

Saloon Siege writes a single small file of its own, named profile.cfg, to your computer. It stores your progression between play sessions, and its entire contents are two numbers:

  • level — your player level.
  • xp — your progress toward the next level.

Where that file lives, and how to delete it

That file contains no name, no email address, no identifier, no device information and nothing that could be linked back to you as a person. It never leaves your computer, and we have no ability to read it.

The game is built with the Godot engine, which stores save files under a folder named after the project's internal codename, PokerDefense. On Windows the full path is %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\PokerDefense\profile.cfg; on macOS it is ~/Library/Application Support/Godot/app_userdata/PokerDefense/profile.cfg; on Linux it is ~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/PokerDefense/profile.cfg.

You can delete that file at any time, without asking us and without uninstalling the game. Deleting it resets your level and experience to zero and has no other effect. Note that the Godot engine also writes its own technical log files alongside it, which record nothing about you.

What this website collects

This site does not use cookies, analytics, tracking pixels, embedded social media widgets, or advertising. We do not set anything in your browser's storage and we do not build any profile of visitors.

The site is a set of static files hosted by Vercel. Like effectively every web server on the internet, Vercel records basic technical request logs — typically including IP addresses and which page was requested — in order to serve traffic and prevent abuse. Those logs are created and held by Vercel under its own policies and retention periods, not ours. We do not use them to identify visitors, we do not combine them with anything else, and we do not build analytics from them.

We have not enabled Vercel's optional analytics products on this site.

When you email us

If you write to privacy@saloon-siege.com, we necessarily receive whatever you put in that message — at minimum your email address, and whatever else you choose to tell us. We use it only to answer you.

We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass your message to anyone else. We keep correspondence only as long as needed to deal with what you wrote about, and delete it afterwards. If you would like your message and our reply deleted sooner, ask and we will do it.

Steam and Valve

Saloon Siege will be distributed through Steam, which is operated by Valve Corporation. When you buy, install, or play a game on Steam, Valve collects information in its capacity as the store and platform operator — this can include your Steam account details, purchase records and playtime.

That collection is Valve's, governed by the Steam Privacy Policy, and it happens whether or not a given game does anything itself. We are naming it here because it would be misleading to say "we collect nothing" without acknowledging that the storefront you bought the game on does collect information about you.

The sales and wishlist reporting Valve provides to us is aggregate and does not identify individual buyers. Separately, some Steam features are public or account-level by design — a review you write, or a post you make on a community page, is attached to your Steam account and is visible to us as it is to everyone else. We do not collect that into any record of our own.

Children's privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction. The game provides no mechanism through which a child could transmit personal information to us.

Your rights

Privacy laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete the personal data a company holds about you. In almost all cases we hold no personal data about you at all, so there is nothing for us to produce, correct, export, or erase.

The exception is if you have emailed us, in which case that correspondence is the only personal data we hold — and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

The progression file the game creates is already entirely under your control: it sits on your own hardware and you can delete it yourself. For data held by Valve about your Steam account, contact Valve directly — they control that information and we have no access to it.

Changes to this policy

If Saloon Siege ever gains a feature that transmits information — Steam Cloud saves, Steam achievements, or online leaderboards are the most likely candidates — this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the date at the top of this page will change.

We will not quietly begin collecting data under a policy that says we do not. If that ever changes, the change will be stated plainly here.
